Hi everyone! It's been a minute!!

So I kinda broke my laptop (covers face) and it's been a nightmare doing anything.

see how flat it now lies?  It couldn't stay upright anymore!

The truth is that, it could well have been avoided if I'd done something when it first happened - I had mistakenly kicked it off my centre table months ago and one side of it cracked. I took it for repairs and was told they would have to hold on to it for about a week! I kept thinking what would I do without a laptop for a week??

Well needless to say, I didn't drop it off and kept putting it off and the laptop went from bad to worse. Things got to a head when the screen was now affected and I would have to hook up my HDMI cable from DSTV to the darned thing so I could see what i was doing on my TV screen.

Anyway, thankfully I've been sorted with a new laptop now so I'm back in business!

Just thought I'd show you what we've been up to in the last couple of weeks (months even!) with our gorgeous brides, brides to be and bridesmaids.

Fresh Natural Hair Styles For The Month Of June

Hi guys!!!!

What have you all been up to? How have the new changes in the economy affected the way you live? You know, I was away when the petrol prices changed and tomatoes became like gold. My tank had been filled prior to when I travelled so I didn't have to purchase any petrol till over a week after I returned. Normally I'd spend just under 4000 filling my tank - this time I spent about 6500. Shock number 1.

Then I went grocery shopping and tomatoes I'd normally get for 200 was now 1000!!! It's one thing to hear about something and a totally different thing to experience it. I've told everyone - it's back to my cooking M.O when I was getting my second degree in Dundee: Plum tomatoes, rodo and onions. Great for stews, sauces and jollof rice. I can't shout.

Apart from that, its been work as usual. So thought i'd just show you lovely people some of what I've been working on in recent times.

My Gorgeous September and October Brides

Soft side swept curls

Here I was, going through my pictures and realised I hadn't put up my brides in the last 2 months.

While I have 3 brides to showcase/talk about, I only have pictures for 2 of them - if you've read any of my blog posts on my brides, you will automatically know why I don't have proper pictures of the 3rd bride. Yup - mad dash at the end!

Anyways, first up is my bride Tolu - she was very very clear about what she wanted - soft curls swept and pinned to the side of her face. Her trial was very quick - I put in some clip ins and held it to the side and she was like 'yes!! That's it!' and that was it! :)

So with her Clip ins (Heat Free For Kurls) I conditioned and blow dried, then using my curling wand, created soft curls and loosely pinned up on the side. That was it!!!

Absolutely loved it!

Second up is my bride Ada - we tried a few things but settled on a simple side do with detailing in the back. For Ada, we crocheted some marley hair in to the back of her hair and then created this 'Flower' in the back for her.

The Post Wedding Photo Shoot Seems To Be The Way To Go!!!

Remember how I'd said a couple of posts ago how one of my brides decided to have a post wedding photo shoot as most of the pictures from the actual day were not the best? Well she did and I have to say the pictures are lovely! I even had time to take pictures from different angles without being harrassed about time, didn't have to style from crazy angles because the makeup artiste has the bride on her high chair, and actually got to enjoy what I was doing!

My September Brides

This has been a long time coming! I'm not even sure why I haven't put this up since but hey, better late than never right (as irritatingly cliched as that sounds!)

So in September, I got to do up 2 lovely brides - my first September bride (Rachel) had me travelling to Abuja to style her and TEN bridesmaids! I know! When she told me 10 I did a couple of double takes myself; but I'd already said yes so there was no backing out lol.

She was very specific about what she wanted her bridesmaids to have - A halo braid. First thing  I needed to figure out was how I was going to manage the different textures, lengths and weaves the bridesmaids would have ( she had a few naturals, 1 Caucasian, 1 Mexican  and a few Ladies with weaves)  while making sure the Bride got her wish.

The other thing I needed to figure out was how I was going to manage 11 people all before a wedding. I'm no superwoman (even though now and again I convince myself I am) and so made a few inquiries about a lady in Abuja I know to be really good with Natural hair handling and styling.

Thankfully, she was available and willing to work with me so that was sorted!

My August Brides!

So in August, I had 2 gorgeous but absolutely different brides to style. Mosun -  Viviacious, Ebony -skinned, care free, straight talker who wanted to add volume to her hair (she has a TWA) using the awesome Heat Free Hair. She'd originally wanted to get a full weave but on seeing the style that she had picked I knew a weave would not work and it would be better to use clips so the hair could be put into the sections needed for the style she wanted.

Now, seeing as we were going to be using extensions, it was important that we at least had one trial run so we could see what could and could not be done or what modifications we would need to make to the style to suit her face. Challenge was she's based in Kwara and somehow we weren't able to find a day to sit down and do anything!

By the Friday evening before her wedding when she was back in Lagos, I was hyperventilating as not only had I not picked up the hair, but we hadn't even sat down to figure out how we were going to style the hair! Mosun was as calm as you can imagine lol you'd have thought it was my wedding the way i was fretting. She just said to me ' you know what? We'll just have to go with the flow' and I was like '*gulp* okay'.

My Easter Weekend Brides!

This Easter weekend was a very special one for me - I got to style not just 1 but 2 Natural brides!!!!! I count myself truly blessed because this time last year, if someone had said I'd be doing this, I'd have laughed out loud - I had a completely different plan for myself which involved a 9 - 5 in someone else's office but somehow no matter how hard I tried, that wasn't working out and this kept coming to the fore and needless to say here I am!

 It is a lot of hard work running a business in Nigeria what with the light issues, staff that think they're doing you a favor, fuel issues and a host of other problems but the satisfaction and joy I get at the end of the day when my back hurts and my feet are throbbing; cannot be compared to anything I'd get from a 9 - 5.

Anyhoo! So this weekend I got the privilege to style two beautiful but very different brides and their differences could not be more evident as it was in their hair style choices.
