Sooooooooooooo!!!!! Tuesday August the 11th is a day I shall never ever forget as long as I live!! One of the stylists in the salon who is pregnant, resumed as usual in the morning, finished up my hair (she'd done it the thursday before but I wanted it a little bigger) and then proceeded to attend to another customer. I noticed she'd been in and out of the toilet a few times and I even saw her carrying a bucket one time as the WC hadn't filled up quickly enough for her to flush the next time she used it.

She came to me and said she wasn't feeling well and needed to leave so I said not a problem. At this time, we were running low on kinky extensions and I quickly left to buy in the next street - spent about 10 minutes and drove back to the salon.

....And I'm back in Protective Styling!

Phew! As much as I love pampering and caring for my hair, as it's gotten longer and thicker my arms have started to ache anytime I'm detangling, styling etc lol. I had planned to keep my hair out for 2 weeks maximum but because I wanted to try out a couple of new D.I.Y things (which I've brought to you) I ended up leaving my hair out for close to a month! No bueno! This year is supposed to be about protective styling for the most part.

Anyways, of course my go to style at the moment is crochet braids and that is exactly what I got! I've been wondering what big hair would look like on me so I planned on getting crochet braids with Marley hair but not doing anything with it (at least not immediately). We'd just taken delivery of some really soft Marley Hair called 'Jamaican Braid' and I knew it would be perfect for what I had in mind.

So I got hold of some, and cut the length into 2 so that I would get some sort of layered look going. Braid pattern was one going all back and the hair was installed pretty quickly. Used just 2 packs of hair and this is the result!

The Versatility of Marley Hair

I absolutely love love Marley hair and all the lovely wonderful things you can get to do with it. From twists to faux buns to crochet braids to updo's, to faux locs, the list is seemingly endless!

Just thought to give us a bit of inspiration for the various styles that can be created using Marley hair. Now there are so many brands - but typically the textures tend to be the same all through (give or take some softness and fluidity here and there)

My December Brides!!!

What an amazing month it's been! I can't believe how fast this year has literally run by and how much the store has evolved in the last year.

December saw me styling 3 brides and I loved every minute spent prepping and styling them for their big days!

My Latest Crochet Install

So I decided to switch up my crochet style after seeing a lot of really interesting styles online that I swear were calling out my name.
So this time around I decided I'd use Marley Hair - but instead of installing then curling with perm rods as most people do, I decided to curl each individual strand of hair before installing it - this would ensure I got a tighter curl and I wouldn't be bending my head in too many neck aching positions just to get my hair into hot water.

So I purchased the Janet Nor brand of Marley Hair which I really really like (and which is the brand we use in the salon) cut each strand of hair in half, brushed it out with a paddle brush, rolled it up on perm rods, soaked them in hot water, let them dry for a while and this was the curl that I was left with.

I prepared 4 packs of hair since i was curling individual strands - didn't want to be left halfway with half my hair done and no curled strands available.
