Our Beautiful Brides (and bridesmaids) Slaying Their Natural Tresses!

It's been too long since I did a bridal post so I have decided to do a long overdue one - bringing us up to speed on all our gorgeous brides (and bridesmaids in some instances)

Meet Jennifer - gorgeous bride with simple tastes. She had a train of 5 and we helped style them all!

Fabulous Natural Hair Styles for our Brides, Graduants and Proud Mums!

It's been graduation and prom season and of course our brides too haven't been left out of the fun! I didn't realize how big a deal graduation had become oh! Even for primary school kids! Loll. It's all good though. We've been having a lot of fun styling so many young ladies for their graduation and prom ceremonies and here's a little snippet of what we've been up to:

One of our June brides, Bukky. She didn't want a sleeked back look with her tiara. That was something she was adamant about. After playing with a few looks, we settled for this low bun in the back and side sweep.

Graduating in style with a vixen crochet instal - This lovely young lady who's been a customer with us for a while now, wanted a vixen crochet she could style in different ways. Using our beloved Afri Naptural definition braid, we were able to give her a seamless 4 way vixen crochet install which she's styled in different ways! The versatility is absolutely fab!

April 2016 Brides!!

Yay for April! Phew! what an intense month it was - brides every weekend, some during the week (Tuesday and Thursday) then our first training workshop (yay!! Shall be posting on that soon) and speaking engagments. I am sooo sooo soo happy for the work, trust and recognition. God indeed is good!!

Okay so I shall be posting pictures of some of my lovely brides from the month of April. As usual due to some 'rushed moments' I don't have pictures of a couple of brides yet but will put them up as I get them from the professional photographers of the day!

First up is Bunmi!! Such a sweet soul! Everyone is 'honey' 'sweetie' lol and she has such a caring disposition.

Some Fabulous Natural Hair Styles To Get You Going!

This month has been such that sometimes I'm not sure if I'm going or coming lol!! I thought I'd bring a little peek into what I've been up to in recent times... but before that, a quick update about my hair:

So, this year I've been doing a lot of wig wearing - it's enabled me take better care of my hair as I'm now able to cleanse and deep condition weekly and moisturize more effectively.

I've also started doing more ayurvedic treatments (yay!!) as I'd really missed the extra pampering and nurturing my hair gets from them. My hair is definitely thicker, and my curls are popping even better!!

Look at those gorgeous waves!!!

So I'm definitely feeling this wigs as a protective styling option - As long as the wigs are short and off my face and neck that is!! The heat in this Lagos has not been fun at all.

Working And Having A Blast At The Wed Expo!!

My models for Friday (extreme left) Omozo of O Naturals and her models, Tuke Morgan and moi :)

So, I decided to take KL's to the Wed Expo this year - and I'm glad I did! It was my first time attending and participating and it was definitely something to see.

One of my models in the thick of things!

The wedding business in Nigeria is NO JOKE!!! My eyes were popping all over the place from all the amazing decor, settings, food, party favours, accessories etc that were on offer.

amazing flower arrangements

Beautiful Eloho On Her Wedding Day.

One of my December brides - sweet, calm and soft spoken Eloho. I first met her in December 2014 when I was prepping another bride who is her friend, Modupe (see here). Apparently she had just gotten engaged very recently and I remember the excitement from her and her friends. Fast forward one year later and I got the honor of doing her hair too!

She wanted a soft and simple yet elegant look and had decided on something that was side swept with some detail.

We did a few trials and settled on the look we were going for - December 19th and I got to her early as planned, and got to styling. There wasn't much to do particularly as the day before I'd given her an amino acid treatment and her hair was much softer and manageable.

Our Gorgeous November Bride!

Saturday 28th was the monthly environmental sanitation and while normally I'd have an extra couple of hours sleep before heading to work, this time around I had to leave the house around 6am so I could get to Anthony before 7am and not be caught on the road due to the restrictions (I still don't understand why we have to be coerced into cleaning our environment, what does that say about us?!! Don't let me even start - that's another topic for another day)

Somehow I missed my turn when I got onto Ikorodu Road and was almost having a panic attack - luckily this nice security guard at the building I turned into, showed me an alternative route and I was able to get to my destination before 7 am. :)

My First Bride of 2015!

Sometime late last year, this lovely young lady got in touch with me about styling her hair for her big day. She wasn't entirely sure what style she would be going for so we went through a number of trials before settling on the styles.

Now as is the case with most brides these days, she was going to be changing her dress at some point during the reception but she didn't just want to change her dress, she also wanted to change her hair styles - a formal do for church and the early part of the reception and then something more 'fun' for the latter part of the day.
Clip ins - washed and conditioned

After initial consultations, we decided we'd use the 'For Kinks' Heat Free Hair Clip ins to create both styles and she went about ordering them. Going by the ones I'd used on brides in the past, I knew the color would be slightly lighter than her hair so we agreed I'd color the hair to a darker shade.

My December Brides!!!

What an amazing month it's been! I can't believe how fast this year has literally run by and how much the store has evolved in the last year.

December saw me styling 3 brides and I loved every minute spent prepping and styling them for their big days!

My Uyo Bride!

So! November started on a fab note! My first bride of the month was getting married on the 1st in Uyo - Akwa Ibom State! I'd never been and it was all sorts of exciting when I found out I'd be travelling there.

Patience the bride, is a beautiful gem! Honestly!  So calm, sweet and patient! (Every pun intended lol) My flight and accommodation had been booked like a month before and she'd sent me confirmation for everything. The night before I was to leave, she called and said the clip ins she ordered hadn't arrived and would probably not arrive in time for the wedding.

I was actually leaving the salon when her call came in so ran back inside and grabbed a few packs of hair as I mentally calculated what style change we were going to have to do.
