All About Rolls and Tucks and Gorgeous Hair!

So! I just had to put up this hair style - this customer has lovely thick hair and each time I get to style her hair, I have so much fun just playing around in it!

The last time she came, we created the cinna puff and this time she wanted a mix of two different styles and I was more than happy to oblige.

To say all the customers in the salon were green with envy is an understatement loll. Everyone wanted to know if I added anything to her hair and I was like - nope; it's all hers!

Beauty Africa Expo - 3 Days, 3 Hair Styles, My Way!

I've been feeling so bleh lately - not sure what exactly's been going on with me. Hopefully I'll snap out of it soon.  Anyway, still on the Beauty Africa Exhibition, I was so busy working at the stand, I didn't really have time to go round and take pictures the way I did last year - but what I did was I wear my hair in different styles for those days so will be showing you those styles today!

I've been protective styling a lot in the last 6 months and haven't really had a chance to enjoy my hair or wear it out so I decided that for each of  the 3 days of the exhibition , I was going to do something different.

My go to style - I now have to tuck the hair around the edges in  to give it a rounded look as my hair is longer and it kinda 'flops' when in a puff

Loving Me Some Fold, Tuck And Pins!

Saturday was busy busy - brides, high school reunions and birthdays were the theme!

First up is Eneni. Eneni is my 'muse' lol I love trying out new things on her hair and she loves submitting her hair to me for such trials. I've done a number of styles for her which has brought me business just from people seeing her and questioning where she got her hair done. So it's a great relationship :)

It was her birthday this past Saturday and of course I had to hook my girl up!

My Week In Styles Plus My 'Triapple'

My Cinna Puff

I'd promised I was going to be experimenting with some 'funky' styles right? lol Let's just say I was lacking a little in inspiration last week. I still managed to get a couple of styles in and I also discovered that:

-  My braid out results have waaay better definition and look better than twist outs. You're probably wondering why it took me this long to find out? Well I've never been one for any of the 'outs' so double strand twist outs, flat twist outs, braid outs, 3 strand  twist outs (ever tried that?) were never my go to style.

Updo's I'm loving this Festive Season

Quite apart from the fact that they're quick and relatively easy to create, updo's can also be dressed up whichever way you desire, particularly in this Festive season - giving you different stylish and glam options that can be switched up effortlessly.

Whether it's with your own hair, or with a bit of help from a pack of Marley or kanekalon hair, you could just let your imagination guide you.

Below are a few styles created for a few customers and for myself in the last couple of weeks:

My August Brides!

So in August, I had 2 gorgeous but absolutely different brides to style. Mosun -  Viviacious, Ebony -skinned, care free, straight talker who wanted to add volume to her hair (she has a TWA) using the awesome Heat Free Hair. She'd originally wanted to get a full weave but on seeing the style that she had picked I knew a weave would not work and it would be better to use clips so the hair could be put into the sections needed for the style she wanted.
Bundle of Heat Free Hair Clip in's as advertised

Now, seeing as we were going to be using extensions, it was important that we at least had one trial run so we could see what could and could not be done or what modifications we would need to make to the style to suit her face. Challenge was she's based in Kwara and somehow we weren't able to find a day to sit down and do anything!

By the Friday evening before her wedding when she was back in Lagos, I was hyperventilating as not only had I not picked up the hair, but we hadn't even sat down to figure out how we were going to style the hair! Mosun was as calm as you can imagine lol you'd have thought it was my wedding the way i was fretting. She just said to me ' you know what? We'll just have to go with the flow' and I was like '*gulp* okay'.

Wash day using new products plus my puff with a twist!

Puff with a few rolls on top
My wash day today was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than last week's near disaster. One of my suppliers gave me a box of goodies from the Tropic Isle range a few weeks ago and I decided that I would try some of the products and see if there was anything I liked enough to incorporate into my regimen.

Truth is I started to use some of them last week but the whole detangling fiasco kinda took away from the shine of that and I was in no mood to talk about new products.

Anyhoo, so last night I pre poo'd with 2 oils - Njoy's Long Healthy Hair growth oil on my scalp and my Alma/Brahmi oil in my hair. I made sure I massaged my scalp for a good 5 minutes till my scalp was all warm and tingly then proceeded to my hair where I finger detangled every strand and then put everything up in plaits.
Oiled and detangled
In the morning I washed with the Tropic Isle Shampoo  and my hair was oh so soft! It's so weird because I used this same shampoo last week and I didn't care for how my  hair felt at all! It kinda felt coated and not as soft as I'd have liked. I'm now not sure what was so different between last week and this week - I used the Brahmi Amla oil last week as well (although this time I used a bit more, saturating my strands) but the results I got were much different. Oh well. I'll try it again next wash day and see what results I get.
