Product Review - Sitrinillah Deep Conditioning Masque and Design Essentials Natural Honey Curl Forming Custard

Yep you guessed right - my excitement got the better of me and my twists came out at the weekend! :)

Truth is we were about to close in the salon on Saturday night and I was contemplating taking them out - still debating with myself I asked one of my staff and a customer and they both agreed that it was beginning to look rough - and that all the prompting I needed!

So, I took them out, put my hair in a puff and when I got home, finger detangled using my Vatika Coconut oil making sure I got the oil on every strand. I then covered with a plastic cap, wore my satin cap and went to sleep. The following day, I clarified, followed up with a protein conditioner (Aubrey Organics GBP) and after rinsing out, I knew I wouldn't have time to do a proper Moisturizing deep conditioning treatment at home as I had to head to the salon so I decided I'd do a full day affair with my deep conditioner.

It was time to try out the Sitrinillah Deep Conditioning Masque! Opened it up and first thing I loved about it was the smell - it didn't have that heavy cloying perfume like smell a lot of conditioners have. It was light and pleasant - with the orange oil lending a nice hint of a citrusy aroma.

Then the texture was light and smooth - not too goopy and not too watery either, I was liking it already! Anyway, so I slathered the conditioner on my strands, covered with a plastic cap, put on my satin cap and decided I was wearing Iro and Buba. Why? I can hear you ask - well, so I could tie a scarf :)

I don't know why I haven't done this before - lol I mean it was just the easiest thing. I could go about doing my thing while my hair was getting amazingly conditioned underneath my head tie! Once we were winding down at the salon, I took off my scarf and sat under the steamer for about half an hour, then waited for it to cool down, on came my scarf again and off I went home.

At home it was time to rinse and I like the fact that it rinsed out very easily. So rinsed out my hair with cool water and oh my goodness! The softness!!!! Curls were popping all over my head and i could run my fingers through. I was definitely pleased with the results. This is a keeper for sure.

I had been debating on getting some finger curls in because I wanted to try the Design Essentials curl forming custard; but at this time it was past 9 and I didn't think I was in the mood to stay up all night caressing my hair all in the name of finger curling. I just couldn't.

So decided on twists and thought I'd probably just rock a twist out the following day. So brought more new products I wanted to try - Design Essentials Almond and Avocado Leave in and the Curl Forming Custard. Starting at the back of my head, sectioned it off and applied a little bit of the leave in and after about 5 seconds I was speechless - my beautifully soft and detangled hair was beginning to bunch up at the ends! My hair started to feel stiff and I was gobsmacked! So disappointed! I love Design Essentials products but this was just a big no no for my hair!

I jejely put it aside and went and got my Kinky Curly Knot Today - comb literally glided through my hair. You know what they say, 'If it ain't broke don't fix it'!

Anyway, opened up the jar of curl forming custard and this was also a nice smelling product that was quite light to the touch. Applied in each section as I twisted and flat twisted the sides and in no time was done with my hair. Twists didn't feel weighed down but were light and bouncy just the way I like!

The following morning I unravelled the twists which were now dry and the definition was PERFECT! Love it! Will definitely be using this custard for other styles that require a holding product.

So that's it for my reviews! Shall be doing a few more reviews in the coming weeks as I try a few different products. I also trimmed my hair and will probably do a post on that next.

Till then!

xoxo

  2. That conditioner sounds just about perfect. The definition on your twist out is unbelievable! Enviable eash day.
It's unfortunate the leave in acted that way. I read another review on it today with the same complaint of stiff and crunchy hair on myfroandi. Too bad

    1. Alas, I got this conditioner off a friend who brought some in from the States. You could order it through a friend coming in from the States perhaps?....
