Prepping for my 9 day colon cleansing journey.

I've been planning to repeat a cleanse I did 2 years ago but somehow I haven't been able to rouse myself to do it. I have now decided that I will use this blog to hold myself accountable: after all my profile does say I'm on a natural hair and body journey :)

I will therefore be starting this cleanse on Friday the 14th and document it here!

So, sometime in 2012, I discovered this all natural colon cleansing kit made by a company 'Blessed Herbs' in the United States. It purports to get rid of accumulated toxins in the intestines in 8 days using the contents of their kit and going on a 5 day liquid only diet.

It seemed daunting at first - drinking liquids only for 5 straight days but I thought, 'why not'? So I did it and my goodness! I shall not disgust anyone with the details of the stuff that I got rid of - but trust me, should you be in need of serious detox using natural ingredients, that will get rid of accumulated debris within your intestinal walls; you may want to give this a try! The cleanse comes in a choice of Ginger Root or peppermint - I prefer to use Ginger root because of the healing properties of Ginger.

The main  reasons I love this particular kit is that it uses natural ingredients, (Aloe Vera Chinese Rhubarb, bentonite, ginger root, psyllium seed husk, apple pectin etc) has VERY detailed instructions on getting the best out of the kits, gives 3 dietary options for using (The Good, Better and Best Options) and has a very detailed information pack covering everything from common questions and their answers to the interactions of the organic root used with possible drugs being taken by a prospective user.

As I said there are 3 options: The Good and Better options don't totally eliminate foods so you can still eat specific foods but the downside of these options is that you will not get the most out of your cleanse the way you would doing the Best option where you totally eliminate food and do a juice fast.

The reason for this is that when you eliminate food, the digestive system is freed up and is able to rid itself of toxins instead of slugging away, trying to digest the food you may be consuming.

So for the first 3 days of the cleanse (the pre cleanse) I shall increase my intake of water, eliminate all dairy, fish, caffeine, meat, salt and sugar from my diet and gradually cut down on my portions in order to prepare my body for 5 days of no food.

The five days will then be a regimen of drinking lots and lots of water, freshly squeezed apple juice mixed with the toxin absorber and taking the digestive stimulator which helps to cleanse, purify and tone the digestive system.

I shall also be using an enema daily during the 5 day juice fast which will help irrigate the colon and make passing 'stuff' out that much easier - I know it sounds pretty icky but trust me, having seen the results of the last one (plus the loss of some 3 inches round my waist) it is all worth it!

I shall be detailing my progress here - so wish me luck!
