Discovering More Fabulous Made In Nigeria Products!! Focus: The Henna Place Protein Conditioner.

A few months ago, I was at the Naturals In The City event and one of the vendors there was The Henna Place - they were doing some lovely henna designs and I got their flyer with a promise to visit as soon as I could especially as they're located in the area I live.

I've been a couple of times to get some Henna Art on my hands and even around my ankle - I particularly loved the bow I got recently. Very simple and nice.

I started following them on Instagram and one day scrolling through their pictures, I came upon 2 different conditioners they sell - one 'Protein' and the other 'Sugar'. I found out that the latter was made for relaxed hair and the former for natural hair.

I couldn't resist trying it out!!! I mean right now my deep conditioner of choice is the Mielle Organics Mint oil and Babbasu Conditioner ( I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove this stuff!!!!!) I've been using it since April last year when I bought a couple at the Taliah Waajid World Natural Hair Show and believe me when I say I'm hooked.

Anyway, I bought The Henna Place Conditioner (N6,500) and happily went home to plan my wash day. I had just taken out a protective style (Crochet braids using Glance Water Wave) and so first detangled using this bottle of Aubrey Organics White Camelia conditioner that I discovered while cleaning out my room

(I'm going to even do a post on all the goodies I 'discovered' during my spring clean loll)

Once hair was completely detangled, I proceeded to clarify using the Elucence Volume Clarifying Shampoo then slathered

on the THP conditioner on my hair in sections, and used my heating cap for deeper penetration. The conditioner is thick in consistency and has a few dark bits in it (possibly the herbs referred to on the container). Getting it in my hair wasn't an issue and a little does go a long way seeing as it's quite thick.

I rinsed out after about an hour and my was very soft and detangled! I mean it was almost on the same level as my revered Mielle Organics!!

I wish they'd list their full ingredients though - I understand they're probably trying to keep a few trade secrets (I suspect there's some Maishanu in there somewhere) but it would help beyond the 'Shea Butter and Coconut oil'  I also didn't care too much for the fragrance - I didn't hate it, but didn't love it either.

I  did however definitely experience a high level of conditioning and moisturizing with this as promised, so would definitely recommend this to anyone willing to try it!

  2. Hello @Kemi, I feel like we should be hair besties because you are the only person in Nigeria I know apart from myself that uses Mielle Organics DC and I have been eying THP protein treatment as well. Would you recommend this as a replacement for Mielle Organics?

    1. Hey!!! Don't you just LOVE the Mielle Organics DC!! I just had a wash day yesterday and my hair and scalp are singing the halleluyah chorus loll. I would recommend it as a replacement where you cannot get your hands on the Mielle Organics DC. It's great for sure (better than most other off the shelf products in my opinion) but the moisturizing levels of Mielle for me are a little higher plus i'm a sucker for a tingling scalp.
