The Post Wedding Photo Shoot Seems To Be The Way To Go!!!

Remember how I'd said a couple of posts ago how one of my brides decided to have a post wedding photo shoot as most of the pictures from the actual day were not the best? Well she did and I have to say the pictures are lovely! I even had time to take pictures from different angles without being harrassed about time, didn't have to style from crazy angles because the makeup artiste has the bride on her high chair, and actually got to enjoy what I was doing!

Sooooooooooooo!!!!! Tuesday August the 11th is a day I shall never ever forget as long as I live!! One of the stylists in the salon who is pregnant, resumed as usual in the morning, finished up my hair (she'd done it the thursday before but I wanted it a little bigger) and then proceeded to attend to another customer. I noticed she'd been in and out of the toilet a few times and I even saw her carrying a bucket one time as the WC hadn't filled up quickly enough for her to flush the next time she used it.

She came to me and said she wasn't feeling well and needed to leave so I said not a problem. At this time, we were running low on kinky extensions and I quickly left to buy in the next street - spent about 10 minutes and drove back to the salon.

My Lovely Brides!

I absolutely love being a part of the 'Big Day' for ladies. It is such a special day - when you make one of the biggest decisions of your life and begin a new phase in the attainment of your destiny. It's truly honoring when I get chosen to be a part of that day and I don't take it lightly.

I've had a number of gorgeous brides over the last couple of months actually - unfortunately for me, quite a number were those where you have the traditional engagement and wedding  on the same day and you know what that usually means: manic rush at the end. That usually means I barely have enough time to finish the hair let alone take my time in getting some decent pictures.

Having said that, I present to you pictures of my gorgeous brides from May, June and July!

First up is the lovely, sweet, Fola - her style was very simple with minimal fuss particularly as she had a statement headpiece so we didn't want too  many things going on. As with a lot of weddings these days, traditional and church were on the same day (so you know exactly what that means lol)

Loving Me Some Fold, Tuck And Pins!

Saturday was busy busy - brides, high school reunions and birthdays were the theme!

First up is Eneni. Eneni is my 'muse' lol I love trying out new things on her hair and she loves submitting her hair to me for such trials. I've done a number of styles for her which has brought me business just from people seeing her and questioning where she got her hair done. So it's a great relationship :)

It was her birthday this past Saturday and of course I had to hook my girl up!

Of New Looks and Havana Twists.

I'm sure you notice our new blog features!!! Thought it was time for a change and so here we are. I would definitely love feedback - do you like it? What can be added? Taken away? Or is it just purrfect!!! :)

I'm also sporting a new protective style - have actually had it for about a week now. I wanted something quick and easy (as always lol) and decided I'd get some Havana twists in. I used the Equal Cuban Twist hair in two colors - 1b in the back (I think black is soooo boring though) and 99J on top.
I wanted them pretty chunky so I  used three strands of the twisting hair for each twist and ended up using 7 packs.

Working With Design Essentials Nigeria!!!!

I'm so amazed at how God works and seemingly orchestrates things for His own plan that unfolds little by little before our eyes. For a very long time in my life, speaking in front of people was a MAJOR challenge for me. I remember speaking about it in this post where I said  a few years ago, I decided to conquer my fear of public speaking and signed up for a course at the Lagos Business School - I didn't realise then that I was going to change careers and it would be coming in very very  handy!

I got the pleasure of meeting the representatives of Design Essentials Nigeria last year and it's been a very rewarding relationship so far. Somewhere along the line, I was asked to be a part of the team - starting as a technician and working my way up as an educator which would mean I'd help  train teams of stylists  either in salons where the products are stocked or where there's an event, and also be part of the styling team where necessary when Design Essentials are sponsors. I started the training process and made the team!
